The Plan of the Hour

I've been building a house for the last 4 years. It's just an excuse, i know, but i have also not been in the studio for years. I need to de-junk this place & make it more livable. So what do i do instead? All i can think about is getting out onto the open road... indulge my deep gypsy yearnings! So of course, that cleaning and de-junking has gone to the wayside. Although in reality, it should be even more important! If i was to get an RV & travel the continent, i would have to downsize big time. Or travel the world with my backpack and downsize even more!

Instead, i have come up with another plan to escape. If things work out as i hope, i will be leaving my house & life for a year and moving North of 60... to Yellowknife, NWT, Canada. To live with the Auroroa Borealis, and hopefully paint it, and all the other northern delights! The plan is to move up there next June.

I'm getting older. Both my mother's parents died in their mid-50's of brain aneurysms. If things like that skip generations, it might be my turn very soon! I need to get on the road! To see the world! I really need that grand adventure... now!

In the meantime, i will slowly de-junk & get this house ready for my partner to live & entertain in. And i will learn to paint with gouache. I usually use acrylics (and occasionally watercolour), but gouache is the perfect travel paint, i think. It can give the impression of acrylics, without carrying paint tubes or bottles that airlines will not let you bring (or will freeze in the belly of the plane). But i'm getting ahead of myself. Cleaning up this house is first.
